Record a definitive early or partial payment

/api/v1/installment-plans/:planId/installments/:installmentId/external-payments

A stable external payment identity reduces only this stage. A fully paid stage is skipped without renumbering the plan. An in-progress/unknown Gateway attempt cannot be adjusted. This is an authenticated merchant assertion, not a Gateway inquiry into another tender.
